DOCTOR WHO ANTHOLOGY: WOMEN IN HISTORY
Hello fellow Whovians! The 50th anniversary is around the corner, so we’ve decided to organize a collaborative fan project. The project will be a celebration of Doctor Who as a whole—meaning, we will be featuring stories and illustrations from ALL eras of Who. There will be a story for each incarnation of the Doctor. Each story will be written by a different writer; each story will be illustrated by a different artist.
Basically, we want you to get involved by either writing or illustrating for the anthology. This means we’re going to request that you have some background in either writing fanfiction or making fanart, so that we can see what you’ve produced in the past.
When we’ve got our staff, so to speak, we’ll hold a pitch meeting on skype (so make sure you download skype if you haven’t already!) to… pitch our stories. So you’ll have a few days to really refine a basic summary of what you plan to write after you get confirmation that you are going to be participating, depending on how quickly people sign up. Then, you’ll have lots of time to work on your story, but you’ll need to keep either Cate or myself up to date on how you’re doing.
There will be a story deadline announced during a meeting.
After everything is all said and done, we hope to compile everything into a book and send it to various people involved in the production of Doctor Who; we’ll also want to make it available for fans online, of course.
The main theme of the anthology will be women in history. This means all stories MUST include at least one famous historical woman. That might seem like a major requirement, but think about it! You have the whole of human history to choose from: every crevice of humanity can and should be explored. We chose this theme since it’s not one that’s often explored in official DW media. Now this doesn’t mean you can’t go all out with the sci-fi elements, of course. If you want to put Cleopatra on Mars, go for it!
Artists can use any medium, be it traditional or digital. Unfortunately, we’re NOT looking for photo-manipulations or PS graphics, just original art. Each artist will have a story that they illustrate for, so there will have to be some level of engagement between writers and artists. You will be working together.
Writers may choose between three lengths: short story (between 7k-15k), novella (15k-40k) and novel (40k+). Please remember that Cate has to edit every story before late November, so please do not exceed 70,000 words. Writers must also utilize the tone of a typical Doctor Who story.
sssshhh of course you are. You can start getting involved by rebloging/submiting/fanmailing this with your info, so we can get in touch with you:

Thanks so much guys!
